Guided Group Chakra Meditation with 9 Singing Crystal Bowls Jan. 27, 2008, 12 noon-1pm You and your partner looking for a bit of blissful relaxation? No prior experience or knowledge is needed for this guided meditation. Children who enjoy meditating are welcome as well. The singing quartz crystal bowls induces one into a deeply relaxing, meditative trance state conducive for healing. You will actually feel the frequency of the healing bowls reverberating around your body. Each singing bowl correlates to one of the 7 seven main chakras. Chakras are subtle centers of energy, which when awakened helps to establish an inner balance between the body, mind and spirit, the key for good health. Through guided imagery, we will journey through the chakras to open, cleanse, and activate your energetic field.** **Side effects may include: a feeling of blissfulness, relaxation, being in the NOW, balance within your energy field, uplifted spirits, personal well-being, peacefulness, rejuvenation, greater connection to your higher self, the universe and to the earth, and a renewed sensed of self. The Language of Parenting ~ Words Weave Magic Five week class series Stroller Strides - Fitness for Moms, Fun for Babies! Stroller Fitness Introduction - A FREE "How-To" Seminar As excited as new moms are about the birth of our babies, we also can't believe the body that's been left behind. Our round, voluptuous body seemed beautiful while pregnant and seems like bread dough after labor. What makes matters worse is that new moms generally don't have time to do traditional exercise and shouldn't be dieting. Our bodies undergo a tremendous amount during pregnancy, so the last thing we should do is deprive it of precious nutrients. But yes, there is hope! Our Stroller Strides program is helping new moms get back their pre pregnancy shape. What's even better is that they get to meet other new moms and spend valuable time with their babies. Classes consist of power walking with intervals of body toning stations using the stroller and the outside environment. Stroller Strides makes it part of their business to support new moms through their parenting experience via playgroups, discussions and a variety of activities for both mom and baby. Please call Mackenzie for more info: 503.381.0694 or visit www.strollerstrides.com. Couples Massage Class February 16th, 1:00-6:00 pm In the couples massage class you’ll expand your skills and increase your touch intelligence and tailor-make your approach to meet your partner’s needs. Does one partner seem distracted when massaging you, or going into irritating repetitions, or hurting you by not knowing his or her own strength? Perhaps your partner is touching too superficially to be satisfying, not really reaching you, or even worse…the T-word, tickling you? In this class we’ll explore how touch is influenced by being present. It can take an ordinary rub-a-dub-dub to a more profound level and create a new level of trust between the two of you. Learn to turn a cranky partner back into your loving partner with some simple techniques. Please avoid wearing makeup, hair products, or perfume. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a pillow and blanket. Within this five hour workshop you will be learning how to give your partner a full body Swedish massage. Class limited to six couples. CEU’s are available to L.M.T.’s upon request. Cost: $125 per couple Betsy Berres has been a practicing massage and healing arts therapist for twenty years in Portland, Oregon. She is certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming and has studied several body-mind modalities. Betsy has taught a variety of massage courses and healing art classes for the last four years in the Continuing Ed Department of Portland Community College and continues with her private practice in Northeast Portland. Occasionally, she finds herself writing a poem, or two. Elizabeth G. Berres, L.M.T. #2688 Intro to Meditation Workshop Sunday, January 13th 12-2:30pm This interactive workshop will introduce a simple technique to help focus and quiet the mind… we will practice short sitting meditations as well as other exercises to induce a meditative state. There will be question and answer sessions between the practices to help refine technique and learn how to apply meditation to everyday life. Benefits include mental clarity, reduced stress, increased health, vitality and quality of life, and greater connection to yourself and your heart. Meditation is a profound life skill that can be used anywhere! Cost: $30 preregistered, $40 day of event To register, please call Zenana Spa 503 238 6262. We just did that workshop last weekend and while we came away feeling a little concerned about our current parenting, we also got motivated, energized, supported and became far more positive in our approach with our 3 year old. We immediately saw some results. I would love for them to start an ongoing class like that with new material, that includes some reinforcing of the great info we got at the first one." - Lisa Baby Sign Language Play Class 6 weeks, $89 Our baby sign language classes take communication to the next level.
