Food for Thought

It’s difficult to know your own value, to recognize beauty, talent, and success within. These attributes are often admired by loved ones and strangers alike. Sometimes women ask themselves why they can not see their own strengths. We wonder, “Why can I not see the things about myself that others see? Who is this woman that my friends seek guidance from, my lover finds sexy, and my children adore? Why do I only see the shadows of my brilliance?”

It is difficult as a woman in today’s world to remember to appreciate and care for the person that the people around us cherish. Caring for children, working full time, keeping a home in order, socializing, and nurturing others can lead to stress and anxiety. Keeping up with everything can cause us to forget to care for ourselves. This can lead to health problems such as asthma, allergies, anemia, arthritis, muscle and joint pain, bladder and urinary tract infections, bone loss, candida and yeast infections, constipation, depression, digestive distress, eating disorders, fibromyalgia, fibroids, hypoglycemia, immune system disorders, menstrual problems, mood swings, obesity, PMS, etc. Women spend endless amounts of money going to doctors and specialists to find cures for these health problems, yet often times they can be prevented by lifestyle and dietary changes.

More and more, women are beginning to realize that in order to survive and meet the needs of their daily lives they need to care for themselves. We can begin this process by intentionally choosing “how” and “what” we eat. Learning to nurture ourselves is the first step to finding that brilliant woman that outsiders see, and revealing the potential for growth and creativity.
